#24211: You can fight another day

It is okay to be tired.

To feel out of breath and out of sorts.

That overwhelming feeling of, “Am I sure I am making the right decision now?”, especially at the crossroads of major decisions.

For some, it even gets to the extreme of, “Maybe I am the only one this is affecting, and I cannot understand anymore.”

You have possibly had a crazy month, a bad week, or even the last couple of days that have been filled with so much anxiety and hidden pains.

It is okay to feel that way sometimes.

What is not okay is making these experiences the complete definitions of your person or building an identity out of the phase that you are in. Pardon my use of Christian parlance, “you have tabernacled” so much on this tiredness that it is difficult to see a way out, or, you don’t even know if you should fight anymore.

I guess I am saying it is human to feel down, but it is also humanely divine to pick yourself up and not stay down when you get those Gbas Gbos. Yeah, that, when life gives you lemons, you make lemonade stuff, is a valid saying on most days.

So, yeah, it is okay to be tired, but it is also okay to fight again.

Some battles will take more than one fight to win, and since you are still here, you can win on another day.

My waking thought this morning is that it is easy to be drawn into ruminating on the things you don't have, or feel like you are missing out on, than the things you have — and the possibilities that can come from your own journey. You can get so caught up comparing and wanting, that you are not living the life that can possibly create the very things you are wanting. It takes intentionality to build. And you will not build your own if you spend time worrying about why your own is not like...

I am still young in this business thing, but one thing is already clear: you don't treat everybody the same way. Not in business. Not in comms. Not in branding or marketing. If you don't understand your audience, you will create problems you won't immediately see. You can't send the same push notification to everybody. At a certain level, even sending the same email to everyone becomes lazy. People need to be grouped into behavioural pockets — based on how they think, what they value, and how...

I saw House of Dynamite on Netflix yesterday, and instead of just enjoying the movie, I was seeing the weight of responsibility, and sometimes what it means to be a leader. Although you people would have told me that the movie did not show whether the missile hit or not, now, I have to finish the story without a closure. 😫 I will firmly posit that leadership at any level means taking responsibility for the lives of other people; it’s just that the weight and consequences differ from level to...
