I am still young in this business thing, but one thing is already clear: you don't treat everybody the same way. Not in business. Not in comms. Not in branding or marketing. If you don't understand your audience, you will create problems you won't immediately see. You can't send the same push notification to everybody. At a certain level, even sending the same email to everyone becomes lazy. People need to be grouped into behavioural pockets β based on how they think, what they value, and how they are likely to respond. Once you understand that, your actions change. You know who to follow up with aggressively. You know who needs clarity and directness. You know who requires patience. You know who you can move informally with, without a specific ask. And you stop feeling guilty about treating people differently β before nko? Yes. The consistency is not in treating everyone the same. The consistency is in your values: respect, honesty, clarity, empathy. That baseline should never move. But how those values are expressed should adapt. That's what good brands do. Loyalty programs are not random. They are structured recognition. If you are loyal to me, I will be loyal to you. Some people should get access; others don't. Some should get faster responses. Some should get concessions. Sometimes, people should feel like you value their opinion or patronage enough to give them first refusal on things. For example, I love Hois. I think I have even reached the point where my love for the brand goes beyond business transactions β and sometimes the business responds with concessions and perks that make me happy, too. If you catch me in any customised tee, it is very, very likely that Hois made it. Loyalty is earned. As a business and as an individual. - O'gbemiro |

My waking thought this morning is that it is easy to be drawn into ruminating on the things you don't have, or feel like you are missing out on, than the things you have β and the possibilities that can come from your own journey. You can get so caught up comparing and wanting, that you are not living the life that can possibly create the very things you are wanting. It takes intentionality to build. And you will not build your own if you spend time worrying about why your own is not like...
I saw House of Dynamite on Netflix yesterday, and instead of just enjoying the movie, I was seeing the weight of responsibility, and sometimes what it means to be a leader. Although you people would have told me that the movie did not show whether the missile hit or not, now, I have to finish the story without a closure. π« I will firmly posit that leadership at any level means taking responsibility for the lives of other people; itβs just that the weight and consequences differ from level to...
It is easy to say people should just believe. It is easy even to think that you believe what you say you believe until there are situations that test if you truly do. For example, will you keep waiting on God if everything feels stuck, and it looks like, despite all your devotion, he is not quick enough? Abi it is time for heaven helps those who help themselves? On most days, how you react to situations is a function of what you know, who you donβt know, who you know, where you are, and your...
