#24159: What is your relationship with shame [FIRST NAME GOES HERE]?

Words are really powerful.

It is interesting how a teaching can shift your perspective—beyond the fact that for Christians, we believe that listening to God’s word injects us with the capacity to do and embodies the Spirit. On the natural side, hearing the right things can radically put your life on track.

Yesterday, Pastor May (Our matriarch at Kingsword and The New Ministries) preached a simple but powerful message.

She taught on Shame and the many ways it can play out to hold you back.

How comparison, as a product of shame consciousness, can deny you from having the right mental space to run your own race without focusing on whether someone else is winning.

I think it is hard not to have been affected by this one way or the other, cos either we like it or not, shame is a societal tool to regulate behaviour. But, the more we are aware of how it affects us, the more we can live above and beyond without falling for suggestions that keep us in a rat race of “performance.”

One thing that stuck to my mind, and I am going to paraphrase, is this, “Some of us do not even know what we genuinely desire anymore as a person, as what we call wants, desire, and passions are a collective of things we are ashamed about based on the things our friends/colleagues/family members have that we do not have, and we want to have too.”

What have you kept aside because you are afraid people will see you in a “certain way” if you boldly step out?

What is running the framework of your life that is directly linked to succeeding in proving a point?

Where have you lost peace, and anxiety wants to finish you cos you are viewing the word from what of me, in comparison to someone you know?

Are you actually living your life or running toward “meeting a perception” that you think people have of you that you are ashamed of?

Yesterday’s teaching left me with many questions, and I hope sharing this with you sets the tone of a limitless week for you, Reader where you are not scared or ashamed about what people will think about your step to launch out.

Launch out!

My waking thought this morning is that it is easy to be drawn into ruminating on the things you don't have, or feel like you are missing out on, than the things you have — and the possibilities that can come from your own journey. You can get so caught up comparing and wanting, that you are not living the life that can possibly create the very things you are wanting. It takes intentionality to build. And you will not build your own if you spend time worrying about why your own is not like...

I am still young in this business thing, but one thing is already clear: you don't treat everybody the same way. Not in business. Not in comms. Not in branding or marketing. If you don't understand your audience, you will create problems you won't immediately see. You can't send the same push notification to everybody. At a certain level, even sending the same email to everyone becomes lazy. People need to be grouped into behavioural pockets — based on how they think, what they value, and how...

I saw House of Dynamite on Netflix yesterday, and instead of just enjoying the movie, I was seeing the weight of responsibility, and sometimes what it means to be a leader. Although you people would have told me that the movie did not show whether the missile hit or not, now, I have to finish the story without a closure. 😫 I will firmly posit that leadership at any level means taking responsibility for the lives of other people; it’s just that the weight and consequences differ from level to...
